Minute Sea-Level Analysis (MISELA): a high-frequency sea-level analysis global dataset

چکیده
Abstract. Sea-level observations provide information on a variety of processes occurring over different temporal and spatial scales that may contribute to coastal flooding hazards. However, global research sea-level extremes is restricted hourly datasets, which prevent the quantification analyses at timescales between few minutes hours. These shorter-period processes, like seiches, meteotsunamis, infragravity waves, even dominate in low tidal basins. Therefore, new 1 min dataset – MISELA (Minute Sea-Level Analysis) has been developed, encompassing quality-checked records nonseismic oscillations tsunami (T<2 h) obtained from 331 tide-gauge sites (https://doi.org/10.14284/456, Zemunik et al., 2021b). This paper describes data quality control procedures applied dataset, world regional coverage sites, lengths time series. The appropriate for global, or local atmospherically induced high-frequency oscillations, should be included overall assessments.

متن کاملGIS Analysis of Global Impacts from Sea Level Rise
Future sea level rise caused by climate change would disrupt the physical processes, economic activities, and social systems in coastal regions. Based on a hypothetical global sea level increase of one to six meters, we developed GIS methods to assess and visualize the global impacts of potential inundation using the best available global datasets. After susceptible areas were delineated, we es...
متن کاملGlobal sea level linked to global temperature.
We propose a simple relationship linking global sea-level variations on time scales of decades to centuries to global mean temperature. This relationship is tested on synthetic data from a global climate model for the past millennium and the next century. When applied to observed data of sea level and temperature for 1880-2000, and taking into account known anthropogenic hydrologic contribution...
متن کاملProbabilistic Sea-Level Rise Hazard Analysis
This paper proposes a framework termed Probabilistic Sea-Level Rise Hazard Analysis (PSLRHA), to integrate the sea-level rise knowledge of current climate change scientific communities for informed engineering and policy decisions that affect coastal infrastructure, populations, and ecosystems. PSLRHA combines probabilities of all emission scenarios with predictions of the resulting sea-level r...
متن کاملCaspian Sea Level Fluctuations
In this paper the main factors that influence the Caspian Sea level rising and the probable and improbable factors are discussed in detail. A cyclical behavior of the level of the Caspian Sea according to local records was proposed. This cyclic fluctuation of the sea level is the long-term behavior of the sea so that the investigation is not restricted to a specific time interval. The statistic...
